The theft of Silas’ gold has been found, and it was Dunstan, found dead in the dried quarry with the treasure. Silas refuses to let her go since she was his only gold, giving purpose to his life. Godfrey and Nancy being childless, decide to take care of Eppie. After 16 years, Eppie becomes a fine lady. Silas becomes fond of the child whom he named Eppie. Godfrey knows that he is the child’s father but has not claimed her nor his dead wife. Silas asks for help and becomes depressed until on New Year’s Eve, he has found a child sleeping in front of his hearth. The horse dies and Dunstan, seeing Silas is not home, robs his gold and has never been found. The latter promised to return the sum by selling his horse.

Godfrey asks his brother to return his father’s tenant’s rent money. The wealthy Squire in town has two sons, Godfrey, a good man, who is secretly married to an opium addict and Dunstan, the greedy son who enjoys blackmailing his brother. He settles in the town of Raveloe where he has isolated himself to the folks, hoarded golds from his weaving and has never seen light in his life. His best friend marries Sarah and he is forced to leave the village. Everybody likes him until he is accused of theft. He is a man of faith, has a fiancée named Sarah, and an active participant in the church with his best friend William Dale. Silas Marner is a weaver from Lantern Yard.
